Don't try too hard
Avoid trying too hard if you want him or her to feel interested in you. People
often make the mistake of trying to impress too hard and end up making a mess
out of the situation. Besides if you are trying so hard to get someone's
attention you might over do it and cause yourself discomfort because you might
start feeling nervous or anxious. So, to avoid any of the above just stay calm

Stay in control
When you are on a date with a man or woman or even just flirting with them, try
to be in control of the situation. You need to assert yourself and let him or
her know that you're not just some random guy or girl but actually have
something special to offer. Be careful not to get to dominating though, he or
